Biography

Born into this world, William Bonsu, on November 22nd 1982, DJ Bonsu grew up
on the south side of Chicago. Discerned by the many influences of his
environment, Bonsu listened to West African tunes, calypso, soca, reggae and
disco spun by his father, a local yet prominent ghanian dj in Chicago. It was also
then that Bonsu, while tagging along with his father to many different events on weekends, developed an interest in the art of djing?. The hip-hop culture didn?t
really capture Bonsu until his teenage years however, the infamous MC?s and
Dj?s of the late 80?s and early to mid 90?s influenced him. Intrigued by the art of spinning, blending and scratching in his teenage years, Bonsu started his quest
to learn this craft by teaching himself. Hitting the party scene in 1999, Bonsu
never looked back. While embarking on the higher education journey to college
@ The University of Illinois, Bonsu rocked the campus alongside his then dj partner, DJ B- Simms where they both made a name for themselves doing fraternity and
Sorority parties, Black Student Union events, bars, clubs, charity functions, and even hosting radio segments as on-air personalities.
